MINE PLANNING BASICS FRIDAY – MATERIAL CLASSES FOR HEX!!
My kind associate Kenn Smart allowed me to use this graphic from his collection of BASICS of EARTHMOVING booklets. It's always best to CLASSIFY materials to be mined by Load & Haul. It's important to know the loose densities of each and their load-ability characteristic. Then only can you size the excavator (HEX) bucket in accordance to duty & severity. According to Kenn the golden rule in terms of optimising HEX is: ONE BUCKET SIZE DOES NOT SUFFICE FOR ALL MATERIALS. Have a look and do please feel free to comment...
